Roberto Vittori, membre du Corps des astronautes européens depuis 1998, qui obtient ainsi sa première mission dans l'espace, participera en tant qu'ingénieur de vol au premier vol taxi Soyouz qui doit rejoindre l'ISS après octobre 2001.
